HAPPY VALLEY WATER PARK​

CHALLENGES:​

To coincide with the existing Mayan theme of Happy Valley, our client requested a new “Space-Mayan” theme that had its own distinct visual identity. In the hopes of encouraging families to visit again, the theming would ideally enhance the attractions through both recreational and educational means. The attractions in question included: a 7000 sq m wave pool, various tube and body slides, a themed children’s play area, and a 500m long lazy river. With a limited budget, the turnaround for both design and construction phases were very tight and left little room for schedule changes.

OUR SOLUTIONS:​

To optimize circulation, the water park was divided into five distinct zones - each with themed elements thoughtfully placed throughout. Together they created a storyline fusing both Space and Mayan concepts together into one cohesive narrative. Embedded into the theming were informative signs and placards that shared more about Mayan culture, history, and lore, to guarantee that educational requirements were met in an accessible and fun way. To ensure the proposed water park integrated seamlessly with the look and feel of the existing theme park, an extensive view study was performed from all angles and perspectives to maximize opportunities for theme park / water park interaction. Additionally, within the tight schedule, our team was able to carefully select vibrant colors and design custom patterns for each slide to create a unique and iconic family experience. Towards the end of the project, our client expressed their satisfaction at the way the project was designed, planned, and executed. Our team was proud to take part in such a large scale, international endeavor that will no doubt provide a premium and thrilling family experience for years to come.
